Car-maggeddon Tournament Round 2, Battle 2: The Bentley from Doomsday vs. The War Rig from Mad Max: Fury Road!

Don't even think about sharing this article.

Welcome to Post-Apocalyptic Media’s Car-maggeddon Tournament, where we’ve pitted popular vehicles from various wastelands against one another in a battle to the death!

There are 20 vehicles of different shapes and sizes. Who will win and be crowned the Wasteland Winner?

Note: These vehicles are from movies only and one vehicle per movie. (And no space ships or aircraft)

How will Car-maggeddon work? Each Saturday, we will pitch two vehicles against one another based on six criteria (listed below)!

Does the car have a tendency to break down? To lose parts? Can you sleep in it?

Does the vehicle have any weapons or other ways to take out the competition?

What armor (if any) does it have? How hard would it be for a zombie to get inside it or for someone to take out the driver from outside?

Can it outrun any threats, or does it just trundle along?

Can it ram its way out of anything holding it back?

This is basically a tie-breaker. In the battle, which vehicle has a higher “coolness factor” or matches best the wasteland look?

Check out the roaster below to see upcoming battles!

Round 2, Battle 2:

The Bentley from Doomsday vs. The War Rig from Mad Max: Fury Road!

If you remember from Round 1, Battle 7, the 2008 Continental GT blasted past the Duke’s Cadillac from Escape from New York, and the War Rig reduced the Green Goblin (from Maximum Overdrive) to green goo.

How much hope does the Bentley have against the War Rig? Is this an unfair battle? Unfortunately, life isn’t fair in the apocalypse, so we’ll have to see if the Bentley’s speed will be enough to save it from the fury of the War Rig.

The Vehicles:

Would you rather spend your nights holed up in a sports car or a massive transport truck? Clearly, the War Rig would be more comfortable and secure, given it has a much larger place to sleep, accommodates more passengers, has more space to store necessities, and would be a lot harder to break into. In terms of maintenance, the Bentley is an import with fancy (even for 2008) electrical components that would be hard to locate replacements for in the wasteland, where the War Rig is already a hacked-together (beautiful) monster.

Already not off to a good start, what could the Bentley do if the War Rig set its sights on the smaller car? In terms of offense … nothing. The Bentley has no offensive or defensive capabilities. The War Rig, as we know, is loaded to the teeth with protective and aggressive components.

It’s also bigger, heavier, has a ramming grill, and is a gigantic transport truck/tank. No car really has a chance against it one-on-one (well, perhaps – we’ll have to see in Round 3, depending who wins their Round 2 battle!).

Yet, one thing the Bentley has is speed. At 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, the Bentley can escape the War Rig no problem. The Bentley also has superior steering, horsepower, and overall performance that would render it a dot on a horizon, likely before the War Rig could get a shot off. It’s also more nimble – the War Rig could never make a sweet jump like this:

While the Bentley couldn’t take the War Rig in a straight fight, as long as it had gas it could very likely escape a barrage of gunfire or whatever else the War Rig threw at it. If the driver of the Bentley were smart, they would know that the best way to approach this battle is: “Those who fight and run away, live to fight another day.”

In terms of aesthetics, there’s really no comparison. While the Bentley is a good-looking car no one would be embarrassed to be seen driving, the War Rig encompasses the apocalypse in its design. In this case, brawn wins over beauty.

Yet, rather than destroy the Bentley, I think the War Rig’s driver would offer a (bionic) arm in a sisterly truce. How much more powerful could the War Rig be if they had an extremely fast scout car? But I’ll keep my Doomsday/Fury Road crossover fan-fiction to myself and simply say:

The War Rig wins this round!
