What is Prime’s Fallout Story and Lore About?

Fallout season 1 delves into the story of disparity between the privileged and the disadvantaged in a post-apocalyptic setting where resources are scarce. Two centuries after a cataclysmic event, the inhabitants of many fallout shelters must confront the intricate, delightfully eccentric, and perilously violent world awaiting them on the surface.

The Great War, a global thermonuclear conflict, erupted and concluded within the brief span of approximately two hours on Saturday, October 23, 2077. The initiator remains uncertain, yet it marked the climax of the decade-long Sino-American War between the United States and China. The catastrophic event claimed billions of lives, plunging world governments and economies into oblivion, and triggering irreversible damage to the global ecosystem through ravaging climate changes.

Vault-Tec, a nuclear defense corporation, dedicated itself to redefining safety measures for an unpredictable future. Securing federal contracts, the company spearheaded the establishment of a comprehensive national network of expansive nuclear fallout shelters known as Vaults. Despite the immense devastation wrought by the Great War, humanity endured. Some sought refuge within the Vaults, while others forged new societies and governance amidst the Wasteland’s desolation. However, amidst these transformations, human nature remains unaltered. There exist individuals whose sole purpose is to seize resources from others and inflict harm in the process. These individuals, commonly known as “raiders,” embody this dark facet of human behavior.

Post-War America had no standard currency upon which to build its economy and society until merchants in New California started using the bottle cap — mostly Nuka-Cola caps — as currency. They realized the technology to create and paint the caps had mostly been lost to the Great War, which meant they had a finite supply and were nearly impossible to counterfeit. These traits made them an ideal candidate, and they were rapidly adopted as the standard currency of the wasteland.

The series also has a stellar cast, featuring Ella Purnell (known for her roles in Arcane and Star Trek: Prodigy), Aaron Moten (renowned for Emancipation), and Walton Goggins (acclaimed for his performances in The Hateful 8 and Django Unchained) and promises an amazing performance.

Executive producers, writers, and co-showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are at the helm of the team. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy serve as executive producers under their Amazon overall deal through Kilter Films. Additionally, Athena Wickham from Kilter Films and Todd Howard from Bethesda Game Studios, alongside James Altman from Bethesda Softworks, join as executive producers. This production represents a collaboration between Amazon, Kilter Films, Bethesda Game Studios, and Bethesda Softworks. Nolan is set to direct the first three episodes of this ambitious series.
