MAPPA Revealed that Season 4 Part 2 Returns THIS Winter

Prior to the big MAPPA anniversary event, Attack on Titan fans knew the series was returning in “Winter 2022,” but they weren’t sure if that meant around January 2022 or closer to December 2022. MAPPA’s tweet with the teaser photo revealed, in the translated version of the tweet, that Episode 76 (called Condemnation) will premiered on NHK “this winter.”

“This winter” could mean as early as December 2021 or January 2022. Anime fans said all along that in Japan, the anime season actually runs from December -February.

Since Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 1 premiered in December 2020, it’s altogether possible that S4 Part 2 could premiere as early as December 2021. But even if it doesn’t, the tweet means that we will be seeing the new season in early 2022 at the latest, and we won’t have to wait until the end of 2022. That’s a big reason to celebrate.

This also means that when Redditor u/Asterend93’s wife translated NHK’s announcement, she was absolutely correct!

The anniversary event had a few additional fun moments for fans. The voice cast for Attack on Titan attended the event. It looks like they were all separated by plexiglass to help with COVID-19 precautions.

Eren’s actor did a hand salute before leaving the stage.

Everyone took a moment to say goodbye to fans.

MAPPA’s opening 10-year anniversary video had a couple AoT clips (but nothing new.)

The director of Attack on Titan’s final season mentioned that while he was producing the first part, he didn’t know how the manga would end.

There’s also a rumor circulating that the second half of the final season will have 12 to 16 episodes, however it’s not clear if that rumor is from the MAPPA event or somewhere else.
