Eighty-Six Delayed: What Time & Date Does 86 Episode 22 Air?

86 Episode 22 Delayed

Eighty-Six Episode 22 was delayed, but now it’s finally almost here! Since 86 Episode 21 ended on a major cliffhanger (after delivering such a phenomenal episode), viewers will of course want to watch the next episode as soon as possible. But although Episode 21 aired in December, Episode 22 was delayed until March. If you’re trying to watch 86 Episode 22 and can’t find it, read on to find out why and when the new episode will finally be available.

86 Episode 22 Is Releasing on March 12

Normally we would have gotten a new episode of 86 (Episode 21) on Saturday, January 1. But for the fourth time during the second part of this season, the episode was delayed. (Technically, this is the second cour of the first season, although at one point it was considered season two.)

The official 86 website noted: “We have decided to take time to broadcast so that the viewers who are looking forward to the work can enjoy the climax of the second cool with better quality. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to everyone who has supported us so far.”

The good news is that since we updated this story, it’s almost time for the new episode!

86’s official website noted that Episode 22 is schedule for release on March 12, 2022 (but this is only Japanese time.)  And as of the evening of March 11, this has not been updated or changed.

What Time Does 86 Episode 22 Air?

The good news is that the official 86 website has told us exactly when to expect the new episodes. The bad news is that it was more than a three month wait from Episode 21. 🥺 But we’re finally back!

The official 86 website noted the following schedule for the next two (and final) episodes of season 1:

  • Episode 22 premieres on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 24:00 in Japan
  • Episode 23 (likely the season finale) premieres on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 24:00 in Japan

Here is the official link for watching Season 2 of 86 online.

The episode will release in the U.S. a bit later than it releases in Japan. If it sticks to the same schedule as previous episodes, this means that Episode 22 will likely release on Crunchyroll in the U.S. at the same time they’d release any other Saturday. So expect 86 Episode 22 to air on Saturday, March 12, 2022, in the U.S. at 9:30 a.m. Pacific/10:30 a.m. Mountain/11:30 a.m. Central/12:30 p.m. Eastern.

But note that these times aren’t guaranteed. As of the time we updated this story, Crunchyroll had not yet posted its March 12 schedule to officially reveal the times that new shows will be dropped.

This was the fourth delay this season. The first two delays were due to the animators needing more time to get the episodes ready. The third delay was due to December 11 being “Japan Day” and, thus, a holiday. This last delay is due to the animators needing more time to create a spectacular finish to the first season. And hopefully this will help assure a renewal for a second season to this phenomenal series.

An Online Event Was Scheduled for February

The official 86 website noted that an online event was scheduled to take place in February, before the last two episodes premiered in March. This was called a virtual exhibition on the official Twitter account, with the first event taking place in early February 2022.

The website noted that an X86- Eighty Six virtual exhibition would include a collection of scenes and original pictures from the anime, expanded and updated to include the March broadcast as well. “Admission is free,” the site said, and anyone with a computer, phone, or VR headset can attend. The site noted that interested fans should follow the official Twitter account for updates.
