It is finally here! The Walking Dead universe is continuing with one of our favorite characters; Daryl. Premiering on September 10th, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has us eagerly anticipating what France has in store for us this season, aside from mutated walkers. But there’s another question that may be on your mind: Will the show be available for an earlier viewing on AMC+ as it has been with The Walking Dead series? Let’s delve into that.
When Is Daryl Dixon Airing on AMC+?
AMC’s Twitter (or X) account typically provides a straightforward schedule for AMC Plus, making it easy for us to keep track. Historically, they’ve shared a comprehensive schedule featuring precise times and dates for both AMC and AMC+ regarding TWD. In most cases, episodes would premiere a whole week ahead of time. However, this year, there’s a slight twist to the usual routine, just as it was with Dead City.
Daryl Dixon will air early on AMC+ on Thursdays, and regularly on AMC on Sundays. The only exception is the premiere, which will air at the same time. This season will consist of 6 episodes.
What is Daryl Dixon About?
Within this fresh TWD Universe spin-off, Daryl finds himself along the coastlines of France, the presumed epicenter of the virus outbreak. Here, he confronts the challenge of deciphering the enigma surrounding his arrival and the circumstances that brought him to this juncture. As the series unfolds, we’ll be captivated by Daryl’s voyage through a fractured yet resilient France, as he strives to find his way back home. Nevertheless, his mission grows more intricate as he forges unanticipated connections with fellow travelers, injecting layers of complexity into his original agenda.
Norman Reedus reprises his iconic role as Daryl Dixon from the original TV series, while Clémence Poésy and Adam Nagaitis step into new character roles. The series’ development was initiated in September 2020. Initially, it was planned to include the character Carol Peletier, but logistical challenges involving actress Melissa McBride led to her departure from the project, shifting the series’ focus entirely onto Daryl. However, in a surprising twist reported in June 2023, it was revealed that McBride will make an appearance in the show reprising her character in some capacity. The series title was officially unveiled in October 2022, with filming commencing in Paris during that same month, and additional casting efforts beginning in November.

This new teaser offers a few shots of a post-apocalyptic Paris, with a ton of new characters and action shots of walkers. When Daryl is asked how he happened to come to Paris, he answers “It’s a long story.” And we can’t wait to hear all about it.
Although Daryl Dixon is set to air its first season with a total of six episodes, in July 2023, thrilling news surfaced as the show received official confirmation of its renewal for a second season.
