There are a bunch of The Walking Dead games out there, whether it be on mobile or as a board game, but role playing games seem to be in very low numbers. Sweden-based publishing company Free League Publishing is changing that with its successful Kickstarter campaign. The Walking Dead Universe has less than 48 hours left until the campaign closes, so grab your goodies while you can!

Players in this game take on the roles of individuals who are attempting to stay alive in a dangerous environment. It is possible for extraordinary difficulties to arise from any direction, such as a deficiency in necessary supplies, the escalation of tensions within the group, the presence of concealed construction defects in your safe haven, or the arrival of flesh-hungry walkers.

The player characters in the game have to not only hone their physical skills, but also conduct an in-depth exploration of who they truly are. This includes determining what motivates them to continue living, what they believe is worth fighting for, and what they are capable of doing.

Two Ways to Play: Survivor Mode, and Campaign Mode

In Campaign Mode, the plot is determined by both your individual objectives and decisions, as well as the collective actions of your whole party.

While playing in Survival Mode, you will be placed in perilous circumstances that need prompt action from you. The TV series is often included in Survival Mode situations, both in terms of locales and people, so you might be reintroduce to your favorite characters from TWD Universe! How fun is this going to be?

The PDF files will be made available to all funders many months in advance of the official release date. That alone in itself is quite the reward!

The game’s Core Rulebook contains rules that were built on the basis of the prestigious Year Zero Engine by Free League. It contains everything you need to develop player characters, as well as the problems those characters will encounter in the realm of the dead that they are a part of.

The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game is a collaborative effort between AMC Networks and the renowned tabletop publisher. Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe, is one of the primary powers that are powering the brand, and the Free League team is collaborating closely with these critical forces. The role-playing game series will include fresh plot points while taking ideas from both the ongoing series and the spin-offs that are yet to come.

As per the Kickstarter page, the game is designed by Nils Hintze (Tales From the Loop RPG, Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying), with Joe LeFavi (ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG) as producer and brand manager, and with Free League co-founders Mattias Johnsson Haake (Symbaroum) and Tomas Härenstam (ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG) serving as editors and project managers. The game art is made by Gustaf Ekelund (Twilight: 2000, Coriolis) and Martin Grip (Symbaroum, ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG).
