IGN’s Summer of Gaming Showcase ended this weekend with a hopeful look at some of the new games coming out this year and next. While there was a healthy dose of farm simulators and action hack-n-slashes, we couldn’t help but notice the huge number of post-apocalyptic-themed games on the menu.

So we compiled a list of our favorites (in no particular order) for you to check out yourself.

VergeWorld – Coming to Steam for PC this Fall

VergeWorld is a post-apocalyptic airship combat simulator with a retro edge and procedural maps that keep gameplay exciting.

The Walking Dead: Last Mile – Coming to Facebook Gaming on July 11, 2022

The Walking Dead saga continues in the frozen wasteland of Last Mile. While this isn’t a Telltale game, it is the official next installment in the TWD franchise.

Superfuse – Coming Late 2022

This highly customizable Diablo-like action RPG plays like a superhero game but has many post-apocalyptic elements. The winning formula in this game is its ability to let you create endless character builds.

Voidtrain – Coming to Steam on October 22, 2022

No, this is nothing like Snowpiercer, but it is a game about surviving on a train through the void. You ride the train between islands where you build up your train’s defenses, solve puzzles, and generally kill everything with three of your friends.

Ship of Fools – Coming to PC and Consoles in 2022

Fight seamonsters during the aquapocalypse in Ship of Fools, a co-op roguelike that also has some serious RPG elements.

Forever Skies – Coming to Steam Early Access in 2022, Later to Consoles

This game is arguably the most post-apocalyptic looking of the games on this list (whatever that means), but it looks to be the perfect mix of Subnautica, No Man’s Sky, and even Raft.

Outbreak Island – Coming to Steam in Q3 2022

This crazy first-person action game centers around survival on an island of biological experiments gone wrong. While it’s not overly post-apocalyptic, the zombie aspect does it for us.

Rose & Locket – Coming to PC (Demo) in October 2022

Another battle with the undead, but this one is wrapped in a fine Metroidvania shell.

Wanderlost – Coming to Steam and Consoles at unknown date

If you’re a fan of games like Stardew Valley, you’ll love the extra zombie-killing spice that’s mixed in with the usual crafting, hunting, and building in Wanderlost.

Blood and Zombies – On Steam Early Access now

So I heard you like zombies. If you like both blood AND zombies, this is the game for you. Blood and Zombies is a wave defense game that’s similar to a tower defense game, but in first-person view.

HumanitZ – Coming to Steam in Summer of 2022

This one looks to be a healthy combo of Project Zomboid and State of Decay where you survive the zombie apocalypse by building defenses, crafting, and farming.

The Entropy Centre – Coming to PC and consoles in 2022

This puzzle game lets you reverse segments of the apocalypse to ultimately save Earth from its destruction that already happened. And it has a cute little robo companion!

Industria – Out now for PC and Consoles

This alternate history Cold War shooter pits you against armies of robots who have taken over the world. It looks very Bioshock with some Atomic Heart mixed in.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite – Coming to PC and Consoles on August 30, 2022

The upcoming Pathogen expansion for Alien: Fireteam Elite includes new missions, weapons, outfits, gear mods, and more.

I Am Future – Coming to PC in 2022

You wake up after a 6-year cryo sleep to find that the world has ended around you and you’re the only human left to survive on top of a skyscraper in a sunken city. Now it’s time to build, craft, and farm for survival!
