Chainsaw Man fans have been waiting for some concrete new information about the upcoming anime, and the wait is finally almost over. MAPPA is planning a huge event on August 5. After a disappointing Anime Expo panel, fans are extra excited about this new event. Here are the details on how to watch it live.

The Event Takes Place on Friday, August 5

The big MAPPA event takes place on Friday, August 5, 2022. According to an official tweet, the event starts at 20:00 Japanese time (8 p.m. on August 5) and lasts for one hour. However, the YouTube channel notes the time is “tentative.”

For the U.S., this means that the event is taking place on Friday, August 5, at 6 a.m. Central, 7 a.m. Eastern, and, 5 a.m. Mountain, and 4 a.m. Pacific.

The live broadcast is going to include a promotional video (aka a new trailer), along with a first-time revelation of the voice cast.

How to Watch Live Online

YouTube is the best place to watch. The link for watching on YouTube is here. Unfortunately, it looks like MAPPA has disabled the ability to embed the video, at least at this time. The live stream is already set up and ready, and you can click on the video itself and ask it to notify you when it goes live.

You can also watch on the Abema TV website or on NicoVideo.jp. Here in the U.S., you should really choose the YouTube version.

The only thing that’s not clear at this time is whether or not there will be English subtitles or translations for the event.

A New Trailer Will Be Released

This is going to be a pretty exciting event. We’ve been told, in this translated tweet, that we can “count on” a trailer being released.

MAPPA notes on Twitter: “We’ll show you a new trailer and will introduce voice actors for the first time there.”

Hopefully, we will also get a premiere date announced, but that hasn’t been mentioned yet in any tweets.

More updates will likely be released on the official Chainsaw English Twitter account

As of the time of this article’s publication, the account has only made one tweet so far.

Crunchyroll provided the following synopsis for the anime:

Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita.

One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as “Chainsaw Man” — a man with a devil’s heart.

The hype for this anime really matches the hype for Attack on Titan, so we can’t wait to see what’s revealed on August 5.

So far, we know that the MAPPA CEO is a huge fan of the Chainsaw Man manga, and plans to do very little censoring in the anime. Instead, the anime will stay as true to the manga as possible.

During the Anime Expo panel, the producer assured attendees that he wants to maintain the rawness of the manga and the realness of the images. An they’re working closely with Tatsuki Fujimoto on the production, which will also help ensure the rawness of the manga remains in place for the anime.
