1. Fallout Board Game

The Fallout Board Game may very well be the most exciting of all the board game options on here. The game comes with a beautiful board, maps, and can last at least two hours. The only problem is that the game won’t even be in stock until April 30. But you can still make it a great Christmas gift. Buy the game and set it up to be delivered to you friend as soon as it’s released. In the meantime, screenshot or print a copy of the receipt showing that you purchased the game, and then leave it in your friend’s stocking. Buy it here.

2. Fallen Land

This post-apocalyptic board game has FREE one-day prime shipping. It explores what would happen after a nuclear and biological apocalypse and is designed for 2 to 5 players. It’s a strategy board game and card-building game combined, where you must adapt to a changing environment to help a group of people survive (including making and breaking treaties with other players.) This game has a five-star rating. Buy it here.

3. Armageddon Board Game

Amazon

This one is a family-friendly game that will cost you a little less than the ones above (just $15.26). It’s a strategy, town-building game that takes about 90 minutes to play, works with three to four people, and has a 4 1/2 star rating on Amazon. The game’s description reads: “Using the debris, they build new towns for the remaining survivors to live in. But there are not only friendly folks out there, Marauders want to pillage your town and see it burn. Scavenge what you can and build new structures to help you defend against the Marauder threat. While you get more survivors in your town you can get more things done, but be careful, they all have to have a space to sleep or they might turn against you and join the Marauders.” According to a review, each round in the game has four phases: setting up, auction, resolving, and completion. Buy it here.

4. Gearworld: The Borderlands

Amazon

You’ll only pay a little more to get this $19.83 game on Amazon Prime. But only five are still in stock, so you’ll need to order fast if you want it in time for Christmas. This game has a 3 1/2 star rating on Amazon and is for 2-4 players. The game emphasizes trade, battle alliances, conquering territory, and resources. It’s based on the classic Borderlands game. The game’s description reads: “Gearworld: The Borderlands is a game of negotiation, conquest, and construction in which two to four players compete to gain the favor of the Sky People for their tribe of scavengers in a post-apocalyptic landscape. … Players must negotiate trades and alliances, conquer their rivals’ territory, and gather resources in a race to build the skyworks to win the favor of those who live in the World Above!” The game features 220 tokens, 100 plastic figures, and a beautiful board. Buy it here.

5. Monopoly: The Walking Dead Survival Edition

Amazon

This is the premium cream of the crop Monopoly game for Walking Dead fans. Yes, it costs $74.98, but it’s worth it: it ranks 4.5 stars on Amazon out of 452 customer reviews. Only seven are left in stock, but it ships via Prime, so order fast to give it to someone for Christmas. The game is for ages 13+ and 2-6 players. It includes six collectible tokens and an optional speed play. Reviews say the game is modeled after the comics rather than the TV series. Buy it here.

6. 3012 Deck Building Game

Amazon

This post-apocalyptic deck-building game is set in the Yucatan peninsula and features more than 200 cards. Each player can take the role of a clan and seek to control the region. Clans include Jaguar, Snake, Monkey, Gar and Bat. It’s for 2-4 players, ages 15+, and takes about 45 minutes to play. According to the game, Armageddon happened a millennia ago, so it’s been quite a while. “Starting with only a handful of Scouts, you will build up your clan’s presence by adding Weapons, Allies, Gold, and Action cards to your deck. Soon you will have amassed enough strength to take on Encounters, where you can really prove your worth. He who can prove is mastery over steel, flesh, and fear will be crowned the Living God and win the game!” Reviews say the play can be slow and the instructions are complex, but if you love deck-building games, you’ll love this one. Buy it here.

7. Munchkin Apocalypse

Amazon

Who doesn’t love a good rousing game of Munchkin? This is one of my favorite games to play, and now you can play an apocalypse version too. It’s only $16.05 an available with Prime shipping. It takes 3-6 players, ages 10 and up, and about an hour or two to play. This is a core set: you don’t need any other Munchkin games to play this one. It has a new card type called Disasters! that adds an element of surprise to the game. According to reviewers, the box comes with 180 cards that include 92 door cards (no race cards), 76 treasure cards, and 12 seal cards. You’ll want something on hand to keep track of your level. The Disaster! cards work the same as Curse! cards from other Munchkin games. Buy it here.

8. Game of Thrones Board Game

Amazon

Yes, some people don’t believe Game of Thrones is post-apocalyptic. Technically it is (see our story about that here), so we’re including this game among your last-minute options. It’s available with Prime shipping and has a 4.5 star rating out of 496 amazon reviews. The board game is for 3-6 players, as each player seeks to take Westeros for his own. This is the updated second edition of the game with a streamlined rulebook and updated art. The product description reads: “A Game of Thrones: The Board Game Second Edition is a classic game of warfare, diplomacy, and intrigue. Taking control of the well-known characters from George R.R. Martin’s beloved fantasy series, players must fight for dominance of the realm. Will you take power through force, coerce your way onto the throne with persuasive speeches, or rally the townsfolk to your side? With opportunities for strategic planning, masterful diplomacy, and clever card play, this game gives you a host of ways to spread your influence over Westeros.” Buy it here.

Want something different? Game of Thrones also has a CLUE game.

9. Apocalypse Chaos Game

Amazon

This game, available with Prime shipping, is for ages 13 up and 1-4 players. It’s a cooperative game that lets you craft your own missions and includes campaign scenarios. The premise is that your ship is surrounded by an alien race, and you must fight to stop the apocalypse. Buy it here.

10. Pandemic: Contagion

This game is different than the Contagion you’re used to. With this game, you are the contagion and you’re wanting to start the apocalypse and destroy the world! It’s not a cooperative game. Instead, you and the other players are competing to be the worst contagion that destroys all of mankind. This game is in stock and features Prime shipping. It’s for 2-5 players and takes about 30 minutes to play. Buy it here.
