Who is on Silver Team in the Halo TV Series?

Don't even think about sharing this article.

In the first episode of the Halo TV series. the first words out of Master Chief’s mouth were, “Silver Team, engage.”

But what is Silver Team? Who is on it? Was Silver Team in the game or in the books?

We’ve got all the answers below, straight from the big wigs at 343 Industries.

The Silver Timeline

Silver is a theme with this TV show. In a series of posts on the official Halo Waypoint website which is maintained by Microsoft and 343 Industries, subtly titled “Silver Debrief” we’re told that:

‘Silver’ is the name of the central Spartan fireteam, and, of course, a nod to the ‘silver screen’ too – naturally, the name stuck. The Silver Timeline is a unique vision of the Halo universe that contains and embraces many key elements of the core canon that has spanned the last two decades, but with relevant contextual and narrative details that diverge in ways appropriate (and necessary) to the storytelling opportunities presented by the TV medium and our collaboration with creative partners.

Have we met any of the Silver Team members before in the games or books? In that same Silver Debrief post, A New Beginning, Community Writer Alex Wakeford answers it this way:

The designations, backgrounds, and names for the Spartans were pulled from our internal documentation for the Spartan-II program, though I cannot reveal what their counterparts in the game and book stories are (or are not) up to, at this time, on pain of death.

So we know that Silver Team is the central Spartan fireteam, and they likely do have counterparts in the games or books. But we do not know as of yet who they are.

Silver Team Members

Silver Team is introduced in the first episode, and you can see their names and call signs on Master Chief’s HUD. But in case you have poor streaming quality, or poor eyesight, the members are John(Master Chief)-117, Riz-028, Kai-125, and Vannak-134. Here’s what (little) we know about them.

John (Master Chief) – 117

The man who needs no introduction, Master Chief, leader of the Spartans.

Riz – 028

Riz prefers to dual wield pistols, and clearly has some antenna on her armor, presumably for communication purposes.

Kai – 125

Kai wields a sniper in episode one.

Vannak – 134

Vannak appears to have bulkier armor than the others.

Does his use of a pole here indicate a propensity for melee weapons?

That’s all we know so far!
