When Stray was announced two years ago, we could not wait to be able to play this third-person cat adventure game. But hey, look at that, time flew by like crazy and the game is so close that we can almost see ourselves already roaming the streets of a dystopian world as a cat protagonist. So when will you be able to play stray, exactly? We’ve got the info you need right here!

When Will Stray Release?

Stray will be available exclusively on July 19th on Steam and PlayStation 4 and 5. You can save 10% off if you chose to pre-purchase the game on Steam before its release.

Here are the times at which you’ll be able to play, depending on the region you are in:

  • UK: 5 p.m. (BT)
  • Europe: 6 p.m. (CT)
  • North America East Coast: 12 p.m. (ET)
  • North America West Coast: 9 a.m. (PT)

So if you’re on the East Coast, like in New York, you’ll have to wait until lunch time or later to play Stray. If you’re on the West Coast, such as in California, then you can start playing late in the morning if you don’t want to wait.

What Is Stray?

Developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive, Stray’s short synopsis on the PlayStation page reads “Lost, injured and alone, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city.”

The game is an adventure game where players play in third-person mode. With an emphasis on mood, adventure, and cyber aesthetics, it incorporates open-world characteristics, allowing you to explore at your own pace.

You will take control of a stray cat who accidentally enters a robot-populated planet and sets out to find his family. To dig deeper into the story, you must solve puzzles that involve shifting barriers and navigating platforms.

You’ll also have a drone friend named B12 with you who can translate robot language and store goods discovered across the globe. Zurks are one of the game’s foes and will swarm you with savage attacks while you try your luck at stealth in the cybercity.

Annapurna Interactive tweeted about the startup area and we can’t help but laugh at how real this is! You’ll absolutely relate to this tweet if you’ve ever tried to put a harness on a cat for the first time.

And how about this really cute nuzzle in-game? It’s Puuurrrrfect!

Excited to play Stray? We know we are! We’ve been waiting for this game for a long time and are ready to enjoy every meowment this game has to offer.
