TLOU’s fans are in for a treat this week, and it’s all thanks to the Super Bowl. The show, which usually airs on Sundays, is listed on IMDB as airing this Friday on HBO Max and HBO on Demand. On linear television, it is set to air in its usual weekly slot on February 12. Let’s take a look at the details about The Last of Us episode 5 and its airing time.

The Last of Us Episode 5 Airing This Friday

The Super Bowl LVII will be kicking off this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. EST and in order for The Last of Us not to overlay the event, HBO has decided to air the series two days in advance, reports The Hollywood Reporter. This decision is probably for the best, considering the popularity of the new series in contrast to the Super Bowl. As TLOU is just 4 episodes in, it’s important that the series keeps its ratings up, especially with how popular it currently is. The series is sitting on a 97% average on Rotten Tomatoes, despite the show getting “review bombed” on other websites because of its third episode focusing on Bill and Frank, a gay couple who helped Joel and Tess trade items secretly.

What to Expect in Episode 5 of The Last of Us

Episode 4 of The Last of Us left us on a cliffhanger with Joel and Ellie now navigating through parts of what we assume is an abandoned QZ, escaping what now seems more dangerous than FEDRA or the infected; people. We saw what some of us already suspect is going to be: bloaters. Strong and enormous infected that throw spore bombs to infect people. Gamers can’t wait to see HBO’s rendition of bloaters. Ellie and Joel are also caught in the middle of the night by two people whom we assume are father and son. Quite possibly “Henry” who had been mentioned so often during the episode. So two things we’re expecting to see this time around in episode 5 are these specific moments.

Here are a few game Easter eggs you can find in episode 4 which aired yesterday.

And, of course, this look at episode 5 which is going to air on Friday, so we won’t have to wait TOO long to see what all of these past events entail to. We just can’t wait to see what happens next!

What is The Last of Us About?

the show is based on Naughty Dog‘s The Last of Us, a post-apocalyptic action-adventure game. The game is set 20 years after a fungal plague has wreaked havoc on the earth and its people. Players take control of Joel, a smuggler charged with transporting a little girl named Ellie across the nation. The expedition leads them across perilous terrain populated by hostile survivors and diseased beasts called Infected. Along the journey, the duo develops a friendship and learns the truth about the epidemic. The Last of Us is an exciting and fascinating experience that blends strong action, survival aspects, and emotional storyline.
