The post-apocalyptic film A Quiet Place 2 is finally about to premiere in movie theaters. After how amazingly well the first movie was reviewed, we can’t wait to see what’s next. But for those of you who planned to watch it on a streaming service, we have some bad news. You’re going to have to wait a while before you can watch A Quiet Place 2 online.

You’ll Have to Wait 45 Days to Stream A Quiet Place 2 at Home

A Quiet Place 2 is being distributed by Paramount Pictures. It will eventually be available to stream on Paramount’s streaming service, called Paramount Plus (formerly known as CBS All Access.) But unfortunately, it won’t be available to stream on May 28, when A Quiet Place 2 releases in movie theaters. You’ll have to wait 45 days before you can stream the movie at home if you’re not wanting to visit theaters. Of course, you can sign up for the service now if you want to watch other post-apocalyptic shows, like The Stand, while you wait.

A Quiet Place 2 will be available to stream on Paramount Place on July 12, 45 days after its release in theaters, Variety reported. This is faster than many movies are typically available to stream online, but slower than Warner Bros.’ same-day release for their movies.

I might really buy Paramount Plus just so I can watch A Quiet Place Part 2.

It’s understandable if you were confused by the timing. (I thought A Quiet Place 2 would be available the same day at first too!) But unlike some other services like Warner Bros., Paramount had never actually planned to release A Quiet Place 2 for streaming on the same day as its theatrical release. In fact, back in late February, Paramount Pictures announced that A Quiet Place 2 would debut in theaters exclusively at first and then 45 days later on its streaming service, Variety reported. (At the time, AQP2 was supposed to premiere in theaters on September 17 with a follow-up streaming release of November 19, but both of those dates were later moved up.) Paramount announced this during Investor Day in February, as part of their plan to compete with other streaming services.

Also adding to the confusion is that during the pandemic, Paramount sold some of its movies to streaming services for streaming-only releases, including Coming to America 2. But the studio is keeping some bigger name releases for its streaming service, like A Quiet Place 2. So if you’re wanting to watch the movie, you’ll have to wait 45 days before it’s available on Paramount Plus.
