And while the trailers for Season 1 in general were plentiful, there haven’t been a lot of details revealed about exactly what to expect in Episode 2. We’re all in the dark, since no one’s gotten to see this second episode early. Read on to learn how to watch Chainsaw Man Episode 2 online, including direct streaming links as soon as it’s available.

Chainsaw Man (MAPPA)

The Chainsaw Man Episode 2 sub drops in the United States at 12 pm. Eastern on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Crunchyroll revealed. The streaming platform has confirmed this date and time with Post Apocalyptic Media.

If you’re in a different U.S. time zone, expect to see the episode at 9 a.m. Pacific/10 a.m. Mountain/11 a.m. Central. That’s about an hour after it airs on TV in Japan at 12 a.m. JST. So there’s not too much time in between the Japan release and the U.S. release.

The episode is going to air on both Hulu and Crunchyroll, but it will not be on Funimation. That’s because Funimation and Crunchyroll merged, and Funimation’s library is being moved completely to Crunchyroll. In the end, Funimation’s going to be shut down.

Below are links and details on how to watch for free. You might want to be ready to watch it on both platforms, since sometimes the servers can get overloaded and it might release late on one versus another.

Hulu’s description for Chainsaw Man reads: “A teenage boy drowning in debt is forced to hunt down devils with his pet devil dog Pochita until he’s betrayed and killed. In an unexpected turn of events, Pochita merges with his dead body and grants him the power of a Chainsaw Man!”

Episode 1 Recap

You can check out our full review of Episode 1 here, but a briefer recap is below.

SPOILERS for Episode 1 beyond this point.

Episode 1 created a dark, dystopian vibe that will serve as the foundation for the rest of the series. It’s a deeply disturbing world, where young Denji has to resort to selling his own body parts just so he can pay off his dead father’s debt and try to survive. All he wants is a little bit of happiness: bread with jam and perhaps, one day, a girlfriend.

He’s about to die when he has a chance run-in with an adorable devil dog, Pochita. Pochita is also dying, so Denji gives the dog his blood so he can live. And the dog agrees to help Denji hunt down devils for money. They quickly become fast friends, sharing some truly sweet moments together. In fact, Denji tells Pochita to take over his body if he ever dies, because his only regret would be not being able to continue feeding Pochita.

But as it turns out, Pochita loves Denji just as much as Denji loves him.

When the Yakuza betray Denji and leave him for the Zombie Devil to kill, Pochita steps in. Instead of letting Denji die, Pochita gives his own heart to Denji. The young man is reborn into a human with devil powers. He is able to slaughter the entire zombie horde.

But the experience leaves him distraught, exhausted, and confused.

That’s where the red-headed Devil Hunter and her organization finds him. She explains that she’s a devil hunter with Public Safety and Denji can either join her group and be a Devil Hunter too, or die. When he learns that he’ll be provided good meals, he doesn’t hesitate. It’s a chance to escape the desperate life he’s been living.

And there the episode ends, leaving us wondering who the woman is and if we will ever see Pochita again.

I can’t wait for Episode 2, how about you?
