All Upcoming Zombie Movies for 2021 and Beyond (UPDATED)

The year 2021 (and beyond!) looks promising for the genre of zombie movies, so we compiled a list of everything we know about what’s to come. Most of this list was compiled from sites like Nerdmuch, Bloody Disgusting, IMDB, and various tidbits here and there across the internet. We left out wild speculations and wishful thinking, and tried to focus mainly on concrete announcements or at least official quotes.

We plan to update this list as we find more information, so be sure to book mark this post and check back often!

Shakespeare's MummyName: Shakespeare’s Mummy

Plot: After a mummy hand appears in a frat party pizza, four kids must chase it down, escape the mob and an ancient sect but most of all learn to forgive each other if they’re going to stop an Egyptian zombie apocalypse . . . then deliver pizza.

Plot: Zombies who have lived underground for 10,000 years finally emerge as more advanced beings than humans, yet are shunned by the human population, leading to an outcry for zombie rights.

PlaguePitsName: Plaguepits

Director: Peter Thorndike
Plot: Paranormal investigators enter an uncharted forest and encounter a legion of “Carriers” – living dead plague carriers who perished there centuries before.

Road of the DeadName: Road of the Dead

Director: Matt Birman (Written by George A. Romero before his passing)
Plot: Road of the Dead takes place six years after 2005’s post-apocalyptic Land of the Dead and is set on an island where zombie prisoners race cars in a modern-day Coliseum for the entertainment of wealthy humans. (Via Bloody Disgusting)

Dead Snow 3Name: Dead Snow 3

Director: Tommy Wirkola
Plot: Expected to be very similar to the first two Dead Snow movies (zombie Nazis and all that), director Tommy Wirkola noted that he’s working on a third film way back in a 2017 interview with EW.

BreathersName: Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament Movie
Year of Release: 2021
Director: Unknown (Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson)
Plot: The popular Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament book by S.G. Browne is being adapted into a movie, although we can’t seem to find a date attached to the production or its release. The story follows a young man who “survives” a car accident that kills his girlfriend, although he has to go through life as a zombie who lives in his parents’ wine cellar, now. He also attends support group meetings for his fellow undead. (Via NerdMuch)

Zombies vs RobotsName: Inherit the Earth
Year of Release: Unknown
Director: Mike Flanagan
Plot: Based on the IDW comic Zombies vs. Robots released in 2006. The story follows a protector robot who has to protect a young girl from an onslaught of zombies. (Via NerdMuch)

Thomas J Churchill's MName: Thomas J. Churchill’s – M

Director: Thomas J. Churchill
Plot: “The film is just what it sounds like: Marilyn Monroe in a bloodbath horror film, slaying zombies and looking sexy. It’s going to be filled with plenty of pop culture camp, with the director teasing ‘think Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Kill Bill.’ Sold!
