A hundred thousand copies sold for a video game is a lot. Half a million, now THAT’S a milestone worth celebrating! Eremite Games’s Against The Storm has done just that and announced a major overhaul of the game to celebrate the occasion. Here’s what’s up and coming in Against The Storm.
Against the Storm Sold Over Half a Million Copies
In a momentous achievement, the sales of Against the Storm have soared beyond the impressive milestone of half a million copies. However, that’s not the only reason fans of the popular game have been excited this week. The development team behind the immersive gaming experience has unveiled the initial phase of revamping the game’s meta-layer.
Against the Storm has inaugurated its enhanced early access roadmap with a new update called “Cycles Reforged.” This significant update introduces a trio of novel systems, namely Ancient Seals, Viceroy’s Caravans, and World Events, setting the stage for a revitalized gaming experience.
What are Ancient Seals?
Ancient structures, constructed eons ago, served as the last line of defense against a malevolent and primordial power. However, the passage of time has taken its toll on these once-impregnable seals, leaving them vulnerable and feeble. A glimmer of hope emerges for players who fulfill specific criteria. They will be allowed to embark on a special mission to restore the weakened seals and safeguard the world from the enigmatic and sinister force that looms.
The Viceroy’s Caravans
Players will witness a remarkable change as their Viceroy party gains a tangible presence on the World Map beyond the Smoldering City. The caravan’s current position, marking the latest successful settlement, becomes the sole launching point for expeditions. Each Cycle transforms into a colossal expedition, demanding meticulous planning for success.
World Events
Hooded Horse, the publishing company, writes “The main purpose of these is to offer some kind of decision or challenge, as well as make the World Map feel more exciting and alive. Events are closely tied to another new mechanic – caravan upgrades – and players will be rewarded for solving them with additional embarkation goods, villagers, or temporary buffs.”
