Elizabeth (portrayed by Julia Ormond) has been missing from The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and her absence is becoming pretty noticeable. Fans are wondering where the character is on TWD: World Beyond.
This article has very minor spoilers that don’t reflect much of the plot from The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2, Episode 8, “Returning Point.”
Jadis Seems to Be Calling the Shots Now
Elizabeth has been missing for a couple of episodes now, and the focus has shifted to Jadis. But as far as I can recall, the character never said that she was leaving. So where is she?
In Season 2 Episode 8, “Returning Point,” her absence if felt especially strongly. Jadis is making some pretty major decisions (just like she did last week) and we never see Elizabeth involved in any of them. If I didn’t know better, I’d think Jadis ranked higher than Elizabeth and we just didn’t need Elizabeth’s input once she arrived. But based on what Jadis says to Huck, that’s not the case.
It’s not clear where the actress is or what happened to the character. But the best assumption to make based on the evidence we’ve been given is that Elizabeth is still there, running things behind-the-scenes, and approving of Jadis’ actions. She just hasn’t been shown on the show lately, for whatever reason.
When Did We Last See Elizabeth?
While Julia Ormond did make an appearance in Season 2 Episode 8, it was only in a flashback that took place long before Jadis’ current crackdown at the facility. So although fans were excited to see her in a trailer for the episode, she didn’t actually appear in the present-day scenario at all. This only left fans with more questions about her whereabouts.
We saw her in person on Season 2 Episode 5, “Quatervois,” when she interrogated Iris’ group after they arrived and later had dinner with Huck at her place. She’s mentioned in Season 2 Episode 6, “Who Are You?,” when Jadis tells Huck that Elizabeth asked her to keep an eye on Huck because she’s worried about who Huck is loyal to. She wasn’t seen at all in Season 2 Episode 7, except it was revealed that she and Beale set up Project Votus eight years earlier. However, in both Episodes 6 and 7, she was only named and appeared as a credit only, she didn’t appear in person.
This means that we haven’t seen Elizabeth in person (except for a flashback) since Episode 5. That’s a long time to go without seeing the main character, especially with so much going down at once. I doubt that anything sinister happened (like Jadis killing Elizabeth), but it’s still a bit odd.
According to IMDb, Ormond is listed in appearing in “Death and the Dead,” which is the episode after this week’s “Returning Point.” But whether she will appear in person or just in a flashback remains to be seen.
