The Best Season of The Walking Dead Is…?

As we approach the twelfth year of The Walking Dead series this October, we can’t help but look back at everything that our little group of survivors has been through. I’m talking everything from crawling zombie torsos to people who wear their victims’ skin on their faces. And those aren’t even the goriest scenes!

But I think it’s safe to say that we all have our favorite characters, favorite moments, and even favorite seasons. These favorites might not be the same as our friends’ or neighbors’ favorites, but that’s part of the fun.

Here’s Which Season Fans Liked Best & Least, According to a Poll

According to a small poll led by Looper, 45% of fans named Season 1 as the best season to date. Now that might not speak favorably for a show that’s in the middle of its 11th season, but there’s no denying that the show has recovered from its slump a few seasons back.

Season 6 was voted the worst season by the Looper pollsters while second place was given to Season 3. Season 4 got third place with Season 2 close behind in fourth place.

What’s even more interesting is the spread between these results. Season 1’s first place spot was secured with 45.31% of the vote while Season 3’s second place spot was drastically lower at 18.23% of the vote.

So what is it that makes that first season the best? For one, the first time you see a new show, it always sticks with you the most. Heck, I’m a big fan and I can’t remember which season is which sometimes. But I can certainly remember what happened in those first few episodes of Season 1.

It’s like a band’s first album: the production values and talent might not be the best, but they put everything they had into that first effort, and it shows. By the time they’re making their 6th album (or season), they’re rich and the spark is gone. It happens.

If you look on Twitter, not every fan agrees. In the tweet below, one fan notes that Season 4a-Season 8b mark the show’s best years. 

Another fan thinks that the best seasons of the show began when Negan joined the cast. 

One fan says the award goes to Season 3. 

But of course, many fans agree that the first season was the best. 

The final episodes of the final season don’t have an official release date yet, but the season started last August, so we can probably expect news very soon. In the meantime, tell us your favorite season!
