Terminator fans, grab your snacks, your favorite chair, and make time on your calendar, because the strategy game publisher Slitherine made the announcement today that the debut of Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance on Steam would take place in the winter of 2023.

The real-time strategy video game Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance takes place in a dystopian future in which human survivors battle the all-conquering synthetic intelligent machine network Legion for their very survival. However, the game’s developers believe that the greatest danger may not come from the destroying machines but rather from groups of human survivors fighting amongst themselves.

As they advance through the game, players will have the ability to make choices at every point, and those choices will have an impact not just on the tasks that come after them but also on the overall experience of playing the game. These choices might lead to a variety of results, such as the acquisition of intelligence, equipment, or allies for use in future fights.
The Founders, the Legion, or the Resistance will be the three possible sides for players to choose from when the game first launches. Players will assume command of armies as they engage in intricate tactical battles employing near-future and machine-tech weaponry. Prospective commanders will have the option to either take part in multiplayer modes or play through an engaging single-player campaign that features enormous strategic battlefields.
During a Twitch livestream, we got our first peek at some of the game’s upcoming gameplay. A disorganized group of Founders, who are being actively chased by robots of the Legion, have come upon a number of other bands of human survivors. The player has the option of joining forces with particular factions or not, however doing so will result in the acquisition of certain advantages.
Within the context of the featured operation, a continual stream of Legion convoys presents the resistance fighters with an enticing target to eliminate. Additionally, the successful recovery of a downed pilot in the region provides essential air support for later operations, and the arrival of a new human organization known as the Integrators means either extra warriors to be incorporated into the ranks of the Founders or another adversary to be fought. In addition, if the operation is completed successfully, the player will have the opportunity to reestablish radio communication with the Founders’ command center. “However, this newly discovered link may not be as advantageous as the player believes it to be…”
