Remember Stray, the post-apocalyptic cat simulator that we were gushing about here on the site (and on our very first podcast) almost two years ago? The game has seemingly dropped from the world’s attention throughout the pandemic, but a recent tweet from PlayStation points to an upcoming release. Coupled with the “Coming 2022” note on the game’s website, we might not have much longer to wait for this indie game.

Stray is a game about stealthily exploring a dead futuristic cybercity with the help of a droid named B12. “Lost, alone and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cybercity and find the way home,” the game’s description states.
“Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.”
Stray is being developed by BlueTwelve Studio out of France, published by Annapurna Interactive, and will be launching on Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Although there is no official launch date, we’re betting on a release later this year.
