Killing Eve and The Last Duel star Jodie Comer is set to star in a brand new thriller entitled The End We Start From, based on a 2017 novel of the same name.

Comer will star as a mother who gives birth to a child just as a catastrophic flood overtakes London. The disaster marks the end of the world, but the beginning of life for this child whom we follow through life as a survivor of this environmental apocalypse.

The book was the #1 Indie Next Selection for November 2017 and won the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers award that same year.

“In elegiac lines, (author Megan) Hunter tells a love story through the eyes of a new mother, who witnesses the death of an old life and the start of a new one,” said Cotton Codinha in an Elle Magazine review. “Perfect portrait of rebirth the final testament that time, and life, do go on, despite our best efforts.”

In addition to Jodie Comer, whom you Star Wars fans might know better as Rey’s mother in Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, the new film will be directed by BAFTA winner Mahalia Belo and be executive produced by Sébastien Raybaud, Cecile Gaget, BBC Film’s Eva Yates, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

With BBC funding and Benedict Cumberbatch on board, this looks to be a high budget adaptation that should prove impressive. A release date has not yet been named.
