Chainsaw Man Episode 9’s English dub drops on Tuesday, December 20 a few hours after the new subs drop (and a couple episodes behind.) It drops at 12:30 p.m. Pacific, or 1:30 p.m. Mountain/2:30 p.m. Central/3:30 p.m. Eastern if you live in a different region of the U.S.

In the U.S., Crunchyroll is your best choice for streaming the dub just as soon as it’s available. It’s not on Funimation, since that library’s being merged with Crunchyroll. And it won’t be on Hulu for quite some time either — likely sometime after the season ends.

To watch the Chainsaw Man Episode 9’s English dub on Crunchyroll: Click here to go to Crunchyroll’s Chainsaw Man page. Change the dropdown menu to “Chainsaw Man S1 – English Dub” so you’re seeing the dubs and not the subs. (The main page will take you to the subs first, which are a couple of episodes ahead of the dubs.) The new dub will be added as soon as it’s available. Other dropdown menus will show options for watching dubs in other languages.

Crunchyroll has free trials for new users. You can find the free trial options here. They include 14-day free trials for Fan, Mega Fan, and Ultimate Fan accounts. All three include no ads. But you can only use them with an email that’s never subscribed or used a free trial before.

Watch Chainsaw Man Episode 9’s Dub on Amazon

You can also catch the dub for Chainsaw Man Episode 9 on Amazon Prime if you’re in the U.S. It’ll be added sometime after the dub drops on Crunchyroll (but before Episode 10 drops next week.)

Amazon Prime has English dubs for Chainsaw Man here. For some reason, Episodes 6, 2, and 3 don’t include subtitles or audio languages on the listing, and we’re not sure why. But if you prefer Amazon Prime, then Episode 9’s dub should be added here before too long.

If you want to make things easier, you can purchase the entire season at that same link, and you’ll be automatically notified when the new episodes are dropped with a TV Season Pass.

Chainsaw Man Episodes 1 through 10 are also available in non-dub form on Amazon Prime, but those are the Japanese versions. The main webpage there says subtitles aren’t available for those.

Episode 8 Recap

There are spoilers below for Episode 8. For a full review, see our article here

Last week’s episode had some unexpected twists that left viewers unsure of what was happening next. The episode had a slow, uncomfortable start that picked up with Himeno and Denji right where they left off. In the morning, Himeno said she was black-out drunk and thankful that Denji turned her down. They agreed to help each other get with the people they truly liked: Denji with Makima and Himeno with Aki.

And then everything changes.

Makima goes on a train trip to Kyoto for an important meeting, and she and her traveling partner are ambushed on the way. Makima’s shot in the head.

After this, a lot of people on the team are taken out by gunfire attacks (or at least, we hear the gunfire shots and are left to wonder if the ambushes worked or not.) This includes Kobeni and Arai.

Meanwhile, Denji, Himeno, Aki, and Power enjoying a ramen meal together when a strange man from the Yakuza starts talking to them. He’s seated next to them, and says the old man that Denji used to work for was his grandfather. He attacks, shooting Denji in the head and injuring Himeno. When Aki tries to get the Fox Devil to eat the man, we learn that he’s another not-human/not-devil creature just like Denji. So he escapes the Fox Devil with ease.

Aki almost kills him when he calls on the Sword (aka the Curse Devil) to help him. But a blonde woman appears and brings the Katana Man back to life. He uses a power to move super fast and stabs Aki in the back. Himeno, meanwhile, is nearly dying from being shot but she can’t let Aki die too. So she gives her entire body over to the Ghost Devil to stop Katana Man.

While she does appear to save Aki, she doesn’t kill Katana Man. The blonde girl calls on a Snake Devil to eat the Ghost Devil, and Katana Man escapes.

We’re left seeing Himeno’s body has completely disappeared and she’s likely now either a ghost or dead. Makima may be dead. The rest of their team may be gone. Denji was shot in the head.

It’s unclear where we go from here.
