Netflix has just announced this week that its hit post-apocalyptic adventure series Sweet Tooth will be coming back for a second season!

This announcement was made after the streaming giant reported that 60 million households watched Season 1 during its first four weeks as it remained in the top spot of Netflix’s Top 10 list during most of that time.

“It’s been equally thrilling and heartwarming to experience how people around the world have been falling in love with our deer-boy,” said executive producer Jim Mickle who will not only maintain his producer role, but also that of writer, director and showrunner for the upcoming second season. “We couldn’t be more excited to continue our collaboration with Netflix and keep following Gus and his friends on their extraordinary journey.”

Sweet Tooth is the story of a young boy named Gus (Christian Convery) who was born with antlers and other deer features after a strange event known as The Great Crumble caused animal/human hybrids to be born all over the world. After leading a sheltered life hiding from those who mean him harm because of his animal features, he sets out on an adventure to find answers about the world. He’s joined by a man named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie) who becomes an unexpected ally in his journey.

Of course, a continuation of the story isn’t a big surprise since the first season follows only a small part of what was in the original comics, but the confirmation is still good news.

Although there is no release date announced, Netflix did confirm that the second season will consist of eight full episodes.
