As America begins Thanksgiving celebrations this week, it’s nice to have a collection of indie short films, game trailers, and reviews to settle in and keep cozy with, right? Thankfully (see what we did there?!), we have this week’s YouTube round-up simmering by the fire.

Scavengers | Post-Apocalyptic Short Film
“158 days after a parasitic virus infected the vast population of the globe, two survivors attempt to scavenge supplies from an abandoned building, unaware of who or what may be lurking inside.” Scavengers is not only full of action, but that action is extremely well-shot. As a sad aside, the video’s description notes that the actor who played The Stranger, Josef Duncan, passed away shortly after filming.

The Best Post-Apocalyptic Horror Movie Is One You’ve Never Seen
Despite the title of this video, Threads is one of my favorite films of all time that I’ve seen way more than I probably should have. In fact, it’s in my all-time top-ten list of post-apocalyptic movies. But I do agree with WhatCulture’s take on the film, and I think if you’ve never seen Threads yourself, this video is a good summary (albeit, with spoilers).

Brolga | Post-Apocalyptic Australian Short Film
Brolga is a short film that won a dozen awards last year during its debut in various film festivals, including ones in Australia, Canada, the US, and beyond. Check out this video and you’ll see why.

WROL Series 2020 Trailer
As the WROL series prepares for its fifth episode coming out next month, the folks at Xelot Film decided to release this new trailer compiled of clips from previous episodes of the series. As a special bonus, they’ve also included a few bonus clips from upcoming episodes.

Last Kids on Earth – Announcement Trailer
The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom is an upcoming action game from BANDAI Namco that looks to be made for kids, but we won’t tell if you play it yourself. This video is an announcement trailer that shows off some early gameplay. TLKoEatSoD is coming to all platforms in Spring of 2021.

Hell Road VR on the Oculus Rift S // RTX 2070 Super
Want to know what it’s like to fight zombies in VR? Paradise Decay takes a solid look at Hell Road VR with his Oculus Rift S and it sure looks like he’s having fun doing it! He goes through the intro to the game, shows how to drive around on the motorcycle, do some starter missions, and how to get some impressive head shots, too.

Shawn has been infatuated with the post-apocalyptic genre since he wore out his horribly American-dubbed VHS of the original Mad Max as a child. Shawn is the former Editor-in-Chief at Massively.com, creator of the Aftermath post-apocalyptic immersion event, and author of "AI For All," a guide to navigating this strange new world of artificial intelligence.
He currently resides on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere with his wife and four children.
