Lately, rumors have been circulating on social media that a new Attack on Titan episode is about to release in November or December. I’ve seen the rumors too, and almost fell for a particularly good video about it on TikTok. But unfortunately, the answer is no. A new episode is not scheduled for the end of this year, no matter how much I was it was!

Three years ago, Attack on Titan’s final episode aired on November 4. So that might be part of what’s fueling the rumor. After seeing how AI has worked recently, I can definitely imagine some AI misinterpreting information about the finale and falsely reporting it was happening this year.

Earlier this year, an Attack on Titan compilation film returned to theaters, so that could also be a source of the rumor.

A New Attack on Titan Game Releases in December

The only thing brand new from Attack on Titan is a game called Attack on Titan 3, releasing in December on PlayStation 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam.

Some AIs (because I can’t believe people would do it) might be mixing up a new episode or series with the game. When MAPPA had their big anniversary event a few months back with a section dedicated to Attack on Titan, the only new thing announced for the show coming any time soon was the game.

Attack on Titan Already Has New Content that Can Be Adapted

But here’s the thing — it wouldn’t be too hard to create a new episode, because we already have the content for it. It wouldn’t be enough for an entirely new spinoff series or sequel, but it could be enough for a short episode revisiting that world.

I wrote about it here back when it was first announced. It’s an 18-page additional chapter to the series by Hajime Isayama which features a deep dive into Levi Ackerman’s childhood. (And yes, they already did this in a previous prequel, but they did it again with new content.) At the very least, I hope that gets animated one day.
