IGN has an exclusive look at a newly announced comic that will serve as a prequel for the popular Audible series, Impact Winter.

The new comic will be published by Robert Kirkman and David Alpert’s company Skybound Entertainment, which also worked on the audio drama. Travis Beacham, who also wrote the audio drama, will be writing the first issue of the comic that is expected to release in July of this year.

“We are so excited to be expanding the epic world of Impact Winter into comic books, and working on this prequel with both Travis and Stephen has been a fantastic experience,” editor Amanda LaFranco said in Skybound’s press release. “If you’re new to the world of Impact Winter, Darcy’s journey will pull you in and make you want to stick around for more. And if you’re already a fan, this story will shine a light on details that have been brewing since Episode One. It’s a story you do not want to miss!”

The prequel comic will be set years before the events of the audio drama, not long after the comet devastated most of the Earth and vampires began to take over. The story is meant to be a bit of an origin story for fan favorite Darcy. If you’re interested in learning more about Impact Winter, check out our full review.

The 40-page first issue of the comic will release both digitally and in comic shops on July 6, 2022.
