Great post-apocalyptic TV shows are returning this fall and new ones are starting. Plus, this is a great time to catch up on what you might have missed from the summer. Are you ready?

Set Your DVR For These Shows: 

  • The Walking Dead – Returns October 12 on AMC.
  • The 100 – No word yet on when this CW show will return. But based on its mid-season start in 2014, it may not come back around until 2015.
  • Adventure Time – This post-apocalyptic cartoon that really isn’t for kids airs on The Cartoon Network.
  • The After (Premiering on Amazon in early 2015) – Brought to you by Chris Carter of X-Files fame. You can check out the pilot on Amazon.
  • 12 Monkeys  (Premiering January 2015 on SyFy) – Yes, you heard it right. 12 Monkeys is baaaack!
  • The Last Man on Earth (Premiering in 2015) – This rare post-apocalyptic comedy will air on Fox.
  • Z Nation – Great zombie flick by Syfy! Started mid-September.

Catch Up on These Shows from the Summer: 

  • Defiance – Defiance is a beautifully filmed post-apocalyptic series helmed by Rockne S. O’Bannon (of Farscape) and airing on Syfy.
  • Falling Skies – This show just wrapped up its latest season on TNT. Although the first season was its absolute best, this is still an alien invasion show you won’t want to miss.
  • The Last Ship – TNT’s latest foray into the post-apocalyptic world. This show takes place in a world where 80% of the population was killed by a virus. You can watch the season here.
